Anthony Foley was an Irish rugby union player and coach. He was born on October 30, 1973, in Limerick, Ireland. Foley played as a number 8 and spent his entire professional playing career with Munster Rugby, where he became one of the most respected and revered figures in the club's history.
Foley made his debut for Munster in 1995 and went on to win two Heineken Cups with the team in 2006 and 2008. He also earned 62 caps for Ireland between 1995 and 2005, scoring 8 tries. Foley was known for his leadership abilities on the field, as well as his physicality and work rate.
After retiring from playing, Foley moved into coaching and served as the head coach of Munster from 2014 until his untimely death in 2016 at the age of 42.
